CRETIN Finish Recording New Full-Length

February 10, 2006

CRETIN have completed work on "Freakery", their forthcoming Relapse Records full-length.

"Freakery" is CRETIN's first album effort after a well-received 7" EP (Cretanic Grind Ambush) and was recorded entirely by the band at their Tillinghast Workshop studio.
Bassist Matthew Widener comments on the record: "I like to think of this as grindcore that people, anyone, can approach. It's music with no pretenses, humble music, honest. Sure, we wear our influences on our sleeves; we're downright obvious about it. If you don't want to go shirtless, REPULSION, SLAYER, and TERRORIZER are good influences to wear, I think. It's the exact opposite of all that new wacky avant-grind and art-grind, and the polished, machine-perfect, premeditated, nu-grind." Widener continues, "It's inspiring that we did this all ourselves, total underground old-school DIY-style, and it sounds really damn good."

"Freakery" track listing:
